Hi everyone! In less than a week I will have hit a full 10 years of writing the daily comic. I always wondered at what point I might stop. And as I talked about in May, now that we have a baby, 10 years seemed like a good time. It feels bitter sweet. I’m getting FOMO (fear of missing out) over what comic moments I won’t be drawing. (Note that I am 6 weeks behind on the daily comic, so the newsletters will continue until I hit the 10 year mark.)
I do have some bucket list items I want to do in regards to the comic. I want to compile them all and make a book (or, more likely, 2 books) with all the comics. I also want to write out my process on how I did everything from idea generation to uploading. If ever I return to drawing them again, I don’t want to have to reinvent the wheel.
Fun fact: before this 10 stretch of daily comics, I had drawn a daily comic for two and a bit years. I had quit for a few years before starting back up again.
A Few Obsessions From This Week
A Highlight from this week’s trip to the library include Carter Goodrich’s book, Say Hello To Zorro! I love Carter’s watercolor drawings and his character design. The line about “keeping to the schedule” is also quite hilarious.
Movies I didn’t realize were books first include Boss Baby. I’ve not seen the film, but I read the book this week and it was great. I also didn’t realize Shrek was a book first.
