Hi everyone! As you saw in last Tuesday’s comic, Domino had bad allergic reaction. I appreciated everyone who reached out about him. The good news is he is doing ok. We still don’t know what caused such a bad reaction except that it was probably something he inhaled, like pollen. We’ve got his allergies back under control and he’s now on medication to help minimize that happening again.
This week was a pretty good one. Connor and I celebrated our nine year wedding anniversary. Connor so kind and nurturing. I’m blessed to share a life with him. One of the loving things he’s been doing is uploading the large backlog of comics on audrywithoutane.com. Every weekday morning he’s been adding 4 comics. As a bonus, he makes up a new title for each comic. This week he posted one he called “Expressions of Love”. We both laughed at the memory.
A Few Obsessions From This Week
Our game night group has finally accepted Nerts for the amazing game that it is. Nerts is a game of speed and fast strategy. But the main reason it is amazing is because I am great at it and retain the crown for long stretches while we play. Unfortunately, because we have been playing more, everyone else is getting better and making me work harder for the wins.
I just signed up for Marc Scheff’s Unleash Creativity Club. I’ve worked with Marc before; his coaching is the reason I started this newsletter in 2022. I’m looking forward to being a part of an expanded artistic community while also developing strategies to un-stuck myself. (The next round of Unleash Creativity Club starts March 14th, so maybe I’ll see some of you there too.)
I’ve been working on a comic script and found the February 1st, 2024 episode of ComicLab to be really helpful. They talk about how to go about writing a short story. There are some helpful links about story structure.
I also came across Dan Well’s talk on the 7-point story structure. I’ve linked the first part, but there are four more parts on youtube. There is also a well written explanation of the 7-point story structure found on the Campfire website. I don’t use Campfire at this time, but they have some helpful articles on writing.
